The GBP/USD (British Pound Sterling) versus the US Dollar is one of world’s oldest currency pairs. It is therefore widely traded around the globe.
It takes its nickname ‘Cable’ from the historic transatlantic cable run across the Atlantic floor. Historically this allowed the British and US economies to exchange currency prices.
Movement in the pair broadly follows that of the EUR/USD due to the close proximity of the economic regions. Cable however tends to exhibit higher volatility than its European counterpart.
